Course Summary

This 3-hour course is intended for individuals who are new to solar photovoltaic (PV) systems.   Students will be introduced to how PV equipment works, how components are wired and mounted, and how PV systems are interconnected to buildings.  Students will also participate in hands-on activities involving the wiring and mounting of PV equipment.   Whether you are thinking of installing solar on your own home, hoping to begin a career in the solar industry, or just want to learn more about this exciting technology, this course is a great starting point.

Wiring PV Modules and Arrays – Learn how PV modules are wired together in an array.  Gain hand-on experience by doing it yourself.

PV System Components – Understand the major parts that make up a solar PV system.

Intro to PV technology: Cells and Modules – Learn about the basics of PV: what it is, and how it works.

Mounting Methods for PV arrays – See how PV arrays are mounted, and get hands-on with a PV mounting system.

Connecting PV Systems to Buildings – Learn how PV systems are interconnected to the grid to provide clean, renewable power.
