Minimum Qualifications

Are You:

  1. 18 years of age or older?
  2. High school graduate or have completed your GED?
  3. Proof of passing one year of High School Algebra - OR - this specific technical math course (http://www.njatc.utk.edu/)
  4. Have a valid driver’s license?

If you answered YES to Questions 1-4, you are eligible to apply to the apprenticeship program.


Please NOTE:  Applications and the other supporting documentation listed below are ONLY accepted on Wednesday of each week from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm  at our office in south Austin :

APPLICATION PART 1:

Bring the following to our office (Wednesdays from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm):

  • A non-refundable $35 application fee
  • Your valid Driver’s License
  • Social Security Card
  • A sealed copy of your High School transcript from the registrar OR a copy of your GED
  • A copy of your Birth Certificate
  • Copy of Registered for Selective Service Form (males only)
  • DD214 - if prior Armed Forces service

Optional:  Complete the Apprenticeship Application in advance via your computer.   You will need a PDF reader, such as Adobe Reader which can be downloaded here.

To fill out the Apprenticeship Application in advance, click here to download the file to your computer.    Once you have filled it out, print it and bring it with your other documents.

 

APPLICATION PART 2:

If you did not bring the completed Apprenticeship Application form, you will need to fill this out at our office.

You will also need to complete the following:

  1. Supplemental Information Form
  2. Work History Form

NOTE:  You will not be allowed to proceed with Part 2 unless each required item in Part 1 is provided to our office.

We will check your application/documentation for completeness and you will then be assigned the next available slot for an assessment.

 

APPLICATION PART 3:

The assessment process occurs on the final Monday of each month beginning at 7:30 AM and each applicant will complete the following:

  • Complete a mandatory online aptitude test consisting of high school algebra and English reading comprehension.
  • Attend an overview presentation of the apprenticeship program.
  • Take and pass a drug screening test.
  • Attend mock interview training

APPLICATION PART 4:

Applicants who meet ALL basic requirements will be scheduled for an interview with the Selection Committee which take place on the 2nd Monday of each month.

APPLICATION PART 5:

Applicants accepted into the program will be selected in order of their final ranking by the Selection Committee.
